The Association's First Annual Meeting, The Annual Hedge Funds Business Operations Forum, is
scheduled for December 13th and 14th at the Princeton Club in New York City. The meeting spans

environment of unprecedented growth and increased scrutiny by regulators and investors. This
year’s meeting, developed with guidance from the Association’s Board of Directors, includes
discussions on:
- An ERISA update: Welcoming ERISA assets and the impact of new legislation
- Hedge fund registration update and strategies to support a fund registered with the SEC
- Liquidity and valuation considerations with the side pocketing of illiquid securities
- Valuation challenges surrounding private assets
- Potential conflicts of interests including side letters, soft dollars and personal trading
- Challenges and risks of supporting an offshore fund
- Compensation strategies for retaining human assets
- Liquidity, leverage and valuation concerns surrounding structured products
- Lessons to be learned from hedge fund failures and instances of fraud
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to relax and network with fellow Association members at
a cocktail reception following the last session on day one. To register and view a complete agenda
of topics to be covered at the annual meeting, visit the Calendar of Events page on the Association’s
website.
While the event is open to the hedge fund community, Association members are eligible for a 10%
discount. When you register, be sure to mention priority code provided in your membership
confirmation email to receive the discount. We look forward to your participation!
Members Corner- Submit Your Questions for the Annual Meeting
In the new member survey, one of the top requests for newsletter content was for a 'Members Corner'
where members share their feedback on industry events, prior articles or general industry comments
from association members. To help start the ‘discussions’ for this section, send us the specific
questions you would like addressed at the annual meeting. We will send your questions to the presenters
before the event so they can be prepared to fully discuss your most pressing issues. Future newsletters
will feature these questions (your identity will be kept confidential) with the corresponding feedback
from these leading industry experts.
Send all questions by Monday, December 4th to Hollie Murrin at hmurrin@frallc.com. To help us direct
the question to the appropriate presenter, please reference which meeting session your question pertains
to. Click here for a complete list of meeting sessions.

A Call for Papers
In response to your feedback in the new member survey, the website and future newsletters will
highlight articles addressing current issues and trends affecting hedge funds. The intent is
not to repeat the same articles you are finding in many of the industry’s top publications, but
to provide you with access to new thought pieces and white papers that haven’t been widely available.
If you have a piece that you would like to submit for publication, please send it to
hmurrin@frallc.com. All appropriate pieces
will be added to the Association’s website. If your piece is selected to be highlighted in an
upcoming newsletter, you will receive a free pass to a Financial Research Associates webinar
of your choice. Please refrain from sending sales materials and keep the submissions to commentary
and educational topics only. If you are not the author, let us know and we will contact them for
permission to print the piece.
